The range from the use of robust natural materials, such as organic cotton jersey, to fun unisex designs that free hand-me-downs from any his or hers hang-ups. And not only are our organic cotton garments cool in design terms – they also meet the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres.

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain, including compliance with social criteria. Only textile products that contain a minimum of 70% organic fibres can become GOTS certified. All chemical inputs, such as dyestuffs and auxiliaries, used must meet specified environmental and toxicological standards. A functional waste water treatment plant is mandatory for any wet-processing unit involved and all processors must comply with minimum social criteria.

L’asticot refuses to use any chemicals in its dyes that could be hazardous to health. The colours in our fabrics are kind to the most sensitive young skin from day one. Laboratory tests have even shown that garments using potentially hazardous chemical-based dyes would have to be washed at least 11 times to reach the same skin tolerance levels as a l’asticot garment at the time of purchase. Need proof? So did we, so we got ourselves Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification to be totally sure. The organic wool we use is also 100% natural, with no viscose yarn added. It is treated naturally and chemical hormones, pesticides and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are strictly out of bounds. As well as keeping little ones warm while allowing their skin to breathe, it is hypoallergenic and acts as a humidity regulator.

L’asticot works with organic and recycled raw materials. The sheep producing our organic wool for example are raised under optimal conditions, feeding on products from organic farming. That means no chemical hormones, no pesticides and no genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The wool is treated naturally and no viscose yarn is added. We also refuse to use any chemicals in our dyes that could be hazardous to health. The confirmation is not just happy sheep – it’s also our Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification.

The EtaProof waterproof coat is designed to protect your child from wind and rain in a healthier way than classic raincoats made out of synthetic fabrics do. The EtaProof fabric is made in Switzerland out of the thinnest and longest cotton fibers which are very delicately woven in order to create a very dense fabric. It becomes even denser when it rains which makes the wet fibers swell and almost entirely fill in the empty spaces between the yarns. Unbelievable but true !

We produce the l’asticot clothes and accessories in a family-owned facility in Portugal that has the European Ecolabel (No PT/016/04). This is the only official European ecolabel. It is based on the principle of an approach that takes into account the life cycle of a product from the extraction of the raw materials, through manufacturing, distribution and utilisation, up to its recycling or disposal after use. We know exactly who makes our products and visit them regularly – so they also know exactly who designs and markets their goods in Switzerland and beyond. How many other kids’ clothes labels can tell you what football team the person who made your t-shirt supports?

You don’t have to be Einstein to figure that clothes that last longer put less strain on the environment. The l’asticot product range has a host of tricks up its sleeve to extend garments’lives. They dress girls as well as boys, develop with the age of the children and are full of finesses for a longer lifetime. Because an article of clothing that lasts is an article that makes the planet last longer. And this is essential for our little rascals !

And l’asticot, where is it located ? The design and the creation is based in Geneva, Switzerland, in the heart of Europe. At the crossroad, our style navigates between the French classicism of our neighbours and the Nordic extravagance that inspires us. Our exclusive fabrics with original prints are the identity of our brand.

But l’asticot is also the importance of bio and ethics. For several generations the environment issues and the sustainable development are anchored in our family. That’s why it was essential for us to defend these values especially as it concerns the clothing of our children.
